It's fair to say Liam Messam is fired up about tomorrow night's second Chiefs pre-season game in Rotorua.

And rightly so.

After the loose forward opened scoring for his Super 14 team during last week's pre-season opener against the Hurricanes, the former Rotorua Boys' High student is looking forward to stepping it up against the Blues on home-soil at the Rotorua International Stadium.

"It's going to be awesome," the 22-year-old told the Daily Post.

"I haven't played on my home ground since last year and you always look forward to going back home.
It's an awesome stadium and one of the best grounds."
